Visit Your Dinner in New York State
By Lisa Cohen
CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY - There are a few wild turkey families living in the woods behind our home, but we are taking the easy route and have ordered our bird from Hemlock Hill Farm about five miles away. Our daughters shop with me there and we always stop by to visit our dinner.
The farm also has potatoes, squash and onions for sale.I belong to a branch of Purple Dragon Food Cooperative that delivers fruits and veg from New York and New Jersey farmers. That has me covered for pumpkin, shallot and various root vegetables. I am growing my own garlic and herbs. Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter menus are the easiest to plan, as all feature seasonally available food.
