Mailbag: San Diego Family to do 100-Mile Diet for One Year

AUGUST 26, 2007 - Melanie of San Diego wrote: My husband and I are undertaking a year-long experiment in eating locally grown organic produce, meat, and milk products here in San Diego. While a wonderful place for produce, San Diego hasn't exactly jumped on the "eat local" bandwagon yet, and finding local, organic resources is an enormous, time-consuming task. We're already developing a resources directory for the San Diego area for those who don't have the time to do all the research we're undertaking. We're hoping to have a San Diego-specific website up within the year. Follow our story at http://localtarian.blogspot.com. Here's a starter resource for folks in San Diego: http://www.sdfarmbureau.org/Pages/farmersmarket.html lists the city's state-certified farmers markets (which guarantees that the seller grew their produce) along with a market schedule and list of farmstands.-ADS
