Local Food in a Governor’s Mansion

JULY 25, 2007 - The good people at Harmony Books, publishers of Plenty, took a moment to send a copy of our work to the First Lady of the State of New York, Silda Wall Spitzer. Her response, we thought, was interesting - and promising: As a consumer and strong supporter of New York's wonderful produce, I want to let you know that the Executive Mansion belongs to a local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and purchases from a group called "Farm to Chef." The mansion also has a vegetable patch, herb garden and greenhouse of its own. As you may know, there is a serious commitment on the part of the Governor and I to make the Mansion a model of a "green" house. -JBM
