From Peak Oil to Peak of the Season in Michigan
SEPTEMBER 7, 2007 - "I am a member of the Lansing-area localvores in Michigan. We are sponsoring the 'localvore challenge' from September 8 to 15. We are challenging people in our community to follow the 100-Mile Diet for one week. Our group evolved from a previous group called Sustainable Lansing, which originally came together to increase people's awareness of peak oil and global warming. After reading The Omnivore's Dilemma, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and Plenty we were inspired to become localvores. In the early stages of planning we discovered the Vermont localvores website and we wish to thank them for all their support in getting our challenge going. We are really excited about this and even though we are the usual 'small group of thoughtful committed citizens' we are making great strides."
