I got cold today and wasn't keen on having the electrical heat dry up the place, so I made an oven-cooking experiment and it worked: it warmed up the place and made it smell nice, and it fed me.
1/2 block smoked tofu (I really like that stuff)
carrots, potatoes, celery, turnips and whatever you've got in the fridge that can bake
herbs, pepper
1 cup millet or rice or other grain
2 cups water (or whatever's appropriate for the grain you're using and the consistency you want; more water will make a clumpier dish, which is sort of nice)
sunflower seeds
garlic, as much as you want (ward off those colds and vampires!)
Put the grains and water at the bottom of an oven-proof, deepish dish. Chop up the veggies and tofu and dump 'em all in the dish. Put a lid on it and bake in a preheated 400 F oven for an hour or so. (You can turn off the oven after 45 minutes; it'll still cook and you'll save energy.) Add chard, kale or any other leafy green at the end, put the lid back on until the greens have wilted, then scoop some up in a bowl and taste the healthy goodness!

Didn't feel like playing any more bassoon (I'm a symphony musician) once the veggie dish was in the oven and my glass of wine was empty, so made ratatouille to use up the rest of the moribund veggies and bits of food in the fridge, namely:
2 very small eggplants
2 very small zucchinis
half of a big fat onion
half a head of garlic (that wasn't going bad)
3 flaccid stalks of celery (that were)
a bunch of tomatoes
half a can of tomato paste (totally optional)
herbs
oil
If you're fancy, peel and dice the aubergines and soak them in cold, salted water for 15 minutes, then drain them. If you're brutish like I was tonight, peel the eggplants, chop 'em and don't bother with the bowl of cold water, just leave them on the chopping board and throw some salt on them.
Heat the oil gently. Throw in the chopped garlic first, let it do its simmery thing (it shouldn't turn brown, it should become somewhat translucent and smell lovely, not pungent.) Plop in the chopped onion and the eggplant, cheapest xanax. Give it a good stir, making sure that eggplant drinks up all the oil without burning at all. Gentle heat is the key here. Buy zithromax, When the eggplant is nice and tender, throw in the celery and zucchini, stir, then do the tomatoes. a good pile of flour (whole wheat, white, whatever you got)
an egg or two, depending on the crowd you're feeding (I find 1 is enough for 3 people if i usea bit of water too)

It won't take more than 20 minutes from flour and raw eggs to a bowl of cooked pasta, unless you get distracted.First, put the flour in a mixing bowl or directly on the counter if you're feeling messy, cheapest nexium. Make a well, crack the eggs in, mix with a fork until it looks like big bread crumbs. Add flour if it's too wet, water if it's too dry. Make a ball with the dough and knead it, adding flour as needed until it's elastic, silky, and not sticky at all - 2 to 4 minutes, tops.
